Morris J. Azure, 72, of St. Michael, ND died on Monday, May 29, 2006 at his home, surrounded by his loving and caring family.

Mass of Christian Burial for Morris will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Catholic Church, St. Michael, ND. Fr. Paul Ruge will celebrate the Mass.

Burial will be in the Azure Family Plot, rural St. Michael. Military Honors will be accorded by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6547. A Wake Service will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Church on Friday, June 2, 2006 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service at 8:00 p.m. The Procession to St. Michael's Catholic Church will leave at 4:30 p.m. on Friday from the Wal-Mart Parking Lot. Serving as Active Casket Bearers for Morris will be Mitch Omen, Joe Joe Jackson, Francis Azure, Jr., Erik Azure, Andrew Azure, David Azure Jr., Steven Cavanaugh, Lars Azure, Justin Azure, Morris Azure, Jarred Azure, and Myron Azure. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Violet "Fee" and Dan Nelson, Homer White Buffalo, Bill and Charlotte Monette, Mike Murphy, Josie Lawrence, Terry Smith, John King, Carol Kurtz, Tony and Vina McDonald, Mary Monette, Amelia Lenoir, Roberta Milford, Dennis and Nancy Kurtz, Rick and Jodi Kurtz, Ephraim and Mary Hill, Martin Desjarlais, Sonny Charboneau, Debbie Murphy Cavanaugh, Christopher Milford (The Grand Forks Indian), Eddie Peltier, Ross Green, Wayne Solway, Cheryl Azure, Dean and Sonta Dauphinais, Ady Omen, Emil Gooden, Brenda Robertson, Mary Bowker, Bentley Greybear, Ina Mikkelson, Dennis Maixner, Peter and Leah Black, and the Home Health and Hospice Nurses. Music will be provided by Jeannie Azure.

Morris Joseph Azure was born on February 20, 1934 at the family home, Belcourt, ND, the son of Andrew and Clara (Daley) Azure. He was reared and educated in the Belcourt area.

He entered the United States Army in 1953 and served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in 1955 and returned to North Dakota.

Morris was united in marriage to Dorothy N. Baker on November 20, 1956 in Devils Lake. They established their home on the farm in rural St. Michael where Morris was a long time self-employed businessman for many years. Dorothy died on January 9, 1998. Morris was a beloved husband, father and grandfather who devoted his life to caring for his wife and family. As a businessman in the area, he met many people who soon became his friend. He was truly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Morris is survived by his Sons: Blake (Cheryl) Azure and Joe (Mary) Azure Daughters: Barbara Azure, Marla (Dennis) Azure, Stacy (Ross) Green, Clara (Eddy) Azure, Margo (Jeff) Azure and Rose (Bob) Azure all of St. Michael Thirty-Five Grandchildren Fifty-Two Great Grandchildren Brother: Raymond (Maggie) Azure of Belcourt Special Nieces: Christine Milford and Mary Ann "Twit" Delong Special Nephew: Thomas Milford

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Dorothy; son, David Azure; grandchildren, Dave and Michelle; sisters, Florestine and Blanche; brothers, Sylvester, Dave and Mike.
