Mr. Ayres was employed in the heat treat department of Fairfield Manufacturing Co., and was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ. He also was a member of Fairfield Athletic Association, Fairfield bowling team of Market Square and Lafayette Bowling Association.
Surviving with his widow are a daughter, Judith Ann; and a son, Gordon Ray, both at home; and a sister, June (Mrs. William) Baum of Flora. Service Jan. 1 at Landis-Loy Mortuary, the Rev. James Bettin officiating; internment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
