Joe and his older brothers, Jordan and Walter, were raised by their aunt, Willie Pearl Aylor, after the death of both parents.
Obituary Joe "Doc" Aylor, 62, of Parchman, Miss., formerly of Petros, died Sunday at 6:45 a.m. in a Mississippi hospital. Mr. Aylor, a former hospital superintendent of Brushy Mountain State Prison from 1961-1972, was a security officer at Mississippi State Prison for eight years. He was a member of the Black Diamond Lodge No. 625 F & AM of Petros and was a 32nd degree mason. He is survived by his wife, Ozelle Aylor; two sons, George Aylor of Route 2, Heiskell and Hugh Aylor of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, two daughters, Elizabeth Aylor of Oliver Springs and Mrs. Jozelle Smith of Chesapeake, Va. Graveside services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in Anderson Memorial Gardens, with the Reverend Billy Edmonds officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Sharp Funeral Home in Oliver Springs. A Masonic service will follow at 8:30 in the chapel of the funeral home which will be given by the Black Diamond Lodge No. 625 F & AM of Petros. The family requests that memorials be in the form of gifts to the Shriners Children's Hospital of Lexington, Ky., c/o Kerebela Temple, 315 S.E. Mimosa Ave., Knoxville, Tn. 37917 or to Mrs. Joe Aylor, P.O. Box 154, Parchman, Miss., 38738.
