Mrs. E. E. Ayers has a CSA widow's pension application on line in the GA Arcives virtual vault. She says she married W. C. Ayers in Franklin Co., GA in Jan 1876. He enlisted in Oct 1861 and served with Company I of the 34th GA regiment. At the surrender his unit was in Columbia, S. C. but he was in the hospital in Augusta. He was parolled home after the war was over and he died in Franklin Co., GA. She did not give a date for his death but the witness said he died about 1907 in Franklin Co., GA.
