Ms. Ayers was born Sept. 24, 1934, in Hardy County, W.Va., and was a daughter of Effie Feathers Combs of Mathias, W.Va. and the late Russell Combs.
She attended the Bethel Church of the Brethren in Keezletown . She was employed at Rockingham Poultry for 13 years and also worked at New Market Poultry.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by three sisters, Ethel Smith, Mathias, W.Va., Ruby Wanda Mongold, Timberville, and Betty Ritchie, Criders; and a companion of 20 years, Kenneth Turner, Broadway.
The Rev. Donald Guthrie will conduct a graveside service at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Cullers Run Cemetery near Mathias.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 this evening at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
