Florence Mildred Shilling Ayers, 87, of Vinton, VA, passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2010. She was born on February 12, 1923, the daughter of the late William & Cammie Shilling. She was preceded in death by her two husbands, J. Paul Sloan and Ezra B. Ayers; brothers, Emmett Shilling and Winford Shilling; and sisters, Elsie Hodges and Essie Wray. Surviving are two daughters, Doris Ann Morgan & husband, Glen, of Moneta, and Karen Lynn Lovelace & husband, Steve, of Vinton; stepson, Larry Ayers & wife, Kim, of San Diego, CA; two grandchildren, Paul Morgan & wife, Stephanie, of Salem, and Hilarie Eckles & Joey Akers, of Roanoke; step grandchildren, Amy Neibel & husband, Aaron, of Atlanta, GA, and Alex Ayers & wife, Lindsey, of Texas; one great-grandson, Ezra Michael Akers; two step great granddaughters , Lauren and Morgan Neibel; three sisters, Vencie Carter, of Salem, Edna Meador, of Vinton, and Virginia Likens, of Roanoke; sister-in-law, Lucille Shilling, of Vinton; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2010, at Lotz Vinton Chapel with the Rev. Mike Ward and the Rev. Melvin Harris officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 20, 2010, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements by Lotz Funeral Home, Vinton Chapel.
