Betty A. Delaney, a guest at Heritage House, East Northampton Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Tuesday, January 13, 2009. Born in Larksville, she was a daughter of the late Francis J. and Gertrude Maher Ayers. She attended local grade schools and was a graduate of the former St. Vincent's High School, Plymouth. She resided for many years on Willow Street in Wilkes-Barre, later on Turner Street in Forty Fort, and most recently at the Daniel J. Flood Tower on Wyoming Avenue in Kingston. She was a member of St. Ignatius Church, North Maple Avenue, Kingston, and belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society. Betty was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband John "Jack," who died May 12, 2006; sister, Mrs. Paul T. (Marian) Brennan. Surviving are sons, John "Jack" Jr., Wilkes-Barre; Donald F. Alexandria, Virginia; Thomas P., El Paso, Texas; a sister, Mrs. William T. (Gertrude) Kelly, Cinton, N.J.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mr. Drew Durako and the staff and management of the Heritage House, especially the second floor nurses and aides for all their compassionate care they provided for Betty. The funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. from the Hugh P. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 416 Wyoming Avenue, Kingston, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 in St. Ignatius Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call Monday from 8:30 until the time of service.
