POQUOSON - Mrs. Lillian Ayers Davis, devoted servant of her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, and devoted and loving wife and mother, died June 23, 1995.
She was an active member of Emmaus Baptist Church. She had been a resident of the Peninsula for 33 years. She was born in the Red Oak Community, Nash County, N.C., on Sept. 20, 1940. She was the daughter of Mrs. Nellie Suits Ayers and the late Mr. J.V. Ayers. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Donald V. Ayers and Kenneth L. Ayers.
Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Dr. John G. Davis Jr.; a daughter, Dr. Debra A. Davis and son-in-law, Dr. Ignacio Ripol, who reside in Virginia Beach; a son, John G. Davis III and daughter-in-law DeAnna R. Davis, who reside in Knoxville, Tenn.; and a grandson, Christopher Davis Schwenk of Virginia Beach.
The family will receive friends at the Claytor Rollins Funeral Home from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Sunday night. Funeral services will be conducted at the Emmaus Baptist Church by Pastor Dr. Irvin Acree at 11 a.m. Monday. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park.
Memorials in her name may be presented to Emmaus Baptist Church, the Mary Immaculate Dialysis Center, or organizations that conducted research on the prevention of strokes.
