OBITUARY:
Benjamin P. Axson
Benjamin Palmer Axson, 87, died Dec. 20.
He was a native of Chatham County and a resident of Tybee Island. He was retired as Clerk of Superior Court of Chatham County in 1984. He was a member of the Society of the Cincinnati, the Oglethorpe Club and the Savannah Yacht Club. He was a longtime member of Independent Presbyterian Church, having joined in 1921, being one of the oldest member of the congregation.
SURVIVORS: his wife, Anne K. Axson of Tybee Island; two sons, Randolph Axson of Tennessee and Samuel Axson of Midway; a stepson, Tom O'Brien of Tybee Island; a sister, Nell Houser of Nashville, Tenn.; and several grandchildren.
GRAVESIDE SERVICE: 3 p.m. today in Bonaventure Cemetery.
