EDGAR J. AXMEAR, 76, of Keswick died Thursday, December 3, 1992, at Sigourney Care Center in Sigourney.

He was born November 13, 1916, near Keswick to William Conrad and Clara Price Axmear.

He married Raechel Higgins January 11, 1942 at her parents home near Keswick.

Ke graduated from Keswick High School in 1935 and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He managed the Lumber Yard in Keswick a number of years before going into the banking business where he worked until his retirement in 1978. He and his wife also operated E & R Insurance for many years. He was a member of the Keswick United Methodist Church, the American Legion and the Keswick Commercial Club.

He is survived by his wife Raechel of Keswick; a brother, Arthur Axmear Jr. of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Jessie Barr of Wayne, Neb.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Lloyd Axmear.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6 at the Keswick United Methodist Church with Rev. Jose Dancel officiating.

Music as provided by organist Norma DeBont and soloist Lois Axmear.

Casket bearers were William Axmear, Fred Axmear, Mitchell Axmear, Larry Joe Mather, Michael Zittergruen and Douglas Valley.

Burial was in Sorden Cemetery near Keswick. Military rites were conducted by James Murphy Post #319.
