TOPEKA—Mrs. Laura A. Axelton, 78, died Friday in a Topeka hospital where she was admitted Thursday. She was born Dec. 28, 1893, at Winkler in
Riley County and spent her early life in the Alert community northwest of Leonardville. She lived in Topeka about 30 years. While in Topeka, she was employed by Capper Publications before she retired in 1960. She was a member of the Alert Community Covenant Church in Riley County.

She was married to Reuben 0. Axelton. He died Oct. 3, 1961. A son, Dale Axelton, died in September, 1941.

Survivors include a son, Lyle Axelton, Boise, Idaho; a daughter, Mrs. Ardith Sippel, 2419 Prairie Road; a brother, Herbert Gustafson, Blue Rapids; a sister, Mrs. Effie Bergstrom, Clay Center; four grandchildren and two-greatgrandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Alert Community Covenant Church. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Leonardville. Mrs. Axelton will lie in state until 9 p.m.Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home and Sunday at Holmes Funeral Home at Riley. (Manhattan Mercury, 10-8-1972)
