Funeral services were held Thursday, April 12, at the Wangen Prairie Lutheran Church for Mrs. Josephine Awsumb, 83, with the Rev. B. J. Blikstad, pastor of the Vang, Urland and Wangen Prairie parish, officiating. Burial was in the Wangen Prairie Cemetery. Mrs. Olaf Frettem sang "I Know Of A Sleep In Jesus Name", with Mrs. Selmer Loven, Sr., accompanying. The pallbearers were Theodore Frettem, Olaf Frettem, Martin Lilleskov, Selmer Lilleskov, Peder Wangen and Burton Lockrem.
Josephine (Wangen) Awsumb was the daughter of John and Carrie Wangen, born in Warsaw Township April 16, 1879. She was married to John B. Awsumb in 1905. He preceded her in death. The couple lived in St. Paul until his death. Mrs. Awsumb attended the local schools and was a member of the Wangen Prairie congregation and the Ladies Aid.
She is survived by two sons, Ardin Awsumb of Stanton and Russell Awsumb; one sister, Mrs. Ragina Daniels of Cannon Falls and two brothers, Carl J. Wangen, Cannon Falls and John J. Wangen of Stanton. There are two grandchildren living. Relatives and friends from St. Paul, Kenyon, Cannon Falls and Dennison attended the funeral.
