Bonnie Ashby was born in Morley Missouri, the loving daughter of Raymond and Della Avery. She was the last living of 9 children. Bonnie graduated from Stoutland High School in Stoutland Missouri. She soon moved to San Diego California with her sister Frances. They work together at a little cafe downtown. While there she met a handsome young sailor named Jesse "Ray" Ashby. The two were married three months later, their love affair lasted for 45 wonderful years. Her beloved Ray was called to heaven on September 9th 1991. Together Bonnie and Ray were blessed with 3 daughters; Vera Ashby of El Cajon, California, Linda Bucci of Lacey, Washington (husband Michael Bucci)and Carolyn Lisenby of Leesburg, Georgia ( Husband Eddie Lisenby). She was "Granny" to Aaron Hahn, Kevin Hahn, Angela Weller, Jessica Lisenby, Megan Lisenby, and Brandon Lisenby. And "Great Granny" to Markus Weller, Kenna Hahn, and Aaron Hahn. Bonnie was "Grandma Bonnie" to Kiara and Christina Tongcab Mom loved to visit her grandchildren, work in her beautiful yard and her coffee. She taught Sunday school at Mar Vista Baptist in her early years. She and the two older girls could be seen walking to church on Sunday mornings. In later years she was a member of Midway Baptist. Bonnie's other interests were sewing (especially doll quilts and pot holders), making jelly from her own fruit and baking rolls, pies and fruitcake. Mom enjoyed looking at newly built homes with Vera. She and Linda aquired apples from the neighbors apple tree to make a delicious pie. Occasionally she and Carolyn would cut school and take secret trips to the San Diego Zoo and Old Town. Granny loved to make rolls with her grandkids. She was proud to be a navy wife, and was very proud of Ray. She and Ray spent many many years talking and laughing together over a cup of coffee. Now they are together again forever. Bonnie Lucille Ashby was a remarkable woman and an awesome mom, we will miss her deeply until we see her again in heaven. We know that a little piece of her lives on in us...her children.
