Avery, C. Odell, 84, retired District Chief, Wichita Fire Dept., died Sunday, Sept. 24, 2000. Visitation thru Friday; visitation with family 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Hillside Funeral Home East; service 10 a.m. Saturday, Evangel Assembly of God.
Mr. Avery was born Sept. 9, 1916 in Yell County, Ark. to Walter and Lydia Avery. He moved to Wichita in 1920. He later met and married Evelyn Jarvis Avery in 1938.
He attended Evangel Assembly of God.
Preceded in death by parents, Walter and Lydia Avery; brother, Chloma Avery; grandchildren, Julie Brette Avery, Bradley Wayne Avery.
Survivors: wife, Evelyn Jarvis Avery; daughter and son-in-law, Sharyll L. "Sherry" and Ken Stewart of Springfield, Mo.; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert O. "Bob" and Karen Avery of Manhattan, Eddie L. and Kaye Avery of Waupaca, Wis.; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren. Memorials have been established with Evangel Assembly of God and Alzheimer's Foundation.
