Malcolm Leon "Mack" "Mildew" Avery Sr., 78, of the 800 block of E. Virginia Beach Blvd., a retired plant manager, died Sept. 9, 1993, in a local hospital.
Mr. Avery was born in Danville, Va. He had retired from Compeco after 55 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Lamberts Point and Campbell Masonic Lodge 67.
Survivors include four daughters, Evelyn P. Owens of Portsmouth, Yvonne A. Crowell of Virginia Beach, Millicent A. Sawyer of Alexandria, Va., and Elnora A. Boyd of New Jersey; two sons, Ashley D. Avery of Chesapeake and Malcolm L. Avery Jr. of Virginia Beach; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by his parents, Eleanora R. Avery and Samuel Avery.
The funeral will be conducted at noon Tuesday in First Baptist Church, Lamberts Point, 38th and Bluestone, by the Rev. Anthony Paige. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. A wake will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday in Hale Funeral Home. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Family will assemble at 719 Leonard Ave., Chesapeake.
