Marcia Jean Avery, 79, of Albany, passed away Tuesday evening at her home.

Born in Mangum, Oklahoma to James Ewing and Viola Mae (Nabors) Shumate, Marcia attended schools in Mangum and graduated from high school in 1950.

She married Kent Avery on May 27, 1950 at Fort Cobb, Oklahoma, and they moved to California in 1955, where they raised their family. In 2007, they moved to Oregon.

Marcia loved gardening and arranging flowers. She always looked forward to going to their church, the Albany First Assembly of God. She was a devoted wife and mother, and loved her Yorkie, Lillie, being by her side.

Marcia is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Kent of Albany; daughter, Elaine Cardwell and husband Ed of Albany; son, Dale Avery and wife Mary of Harrisburg, Missouri; sons, Terry Gale Avery and James Avery, both of Albany; eleven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sister, Marjorie Waldrop of Mangum, Okla.

A private graveside service was held at Willamette Memorial Park.
