DEBERRY, TX - Services for Mr. Carl Elijah Auvil, 62, will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 4, 1999 at Mt. Zion United Methodist church with Rev. Jim Hilton officiating. Interment will be in Panola Mt. Zion Cemetery. Services under the direction of Hawthorn Funeral Home in Carthage, TX. Funeral home visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday January 3, 1999.
Mr. Carl Elijah Auvil passed away on Saturday January 2, 1999 in Shreveport, LA. He was born January 25, 1936 in Ashville Alabama to Lorenzo Cleveland and Georgia Matilda Wilson Auvil. He married Minnie Mural Sheppard on February 12, 1955 and together they celebrated almost 44 years of marriage. Carl worked as a Printer and Superintendent with The Shreveport Journal and Times Newspapers and retired after 28 years of service. He was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
Carl is preceded in death by two brothers, Edward Virgil and Levon Auvil.
He is survived by his wife, Mural Auvil of DeBerry, TX; two sons, Carl Auvil, Jr. and wife Delores of Gladewater, TX, and Steven Wade Auvil and wife, Amy of DeBerry, TX; two daughters, Pamela Lavonne of Dallas, TX and Ellen McCreary and husband Mike of DeBerry, TX; two brothers, George Cleveland Auvil of Houston, and Howard Wilson Auvil and wife Mary Lou of Clinton, AR; one sister, Wendy Foster of Elysian Fields, TX; six grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
