January 14, 1904 Wenatchee Republic.

On January 7th, at two p.m. occurred the wedding of Miss Bessie Cannon, and Fred T. Hannan at the residence of the bride's parents Mr. and Mrs. W.F. Cannon. Elder A. A. Elmore tied the knot that bound the happy couple. After some time spent in congratulations and social chat the newly wedded pair left for their new home across the river from C.A. Harris'. A large number of guests witnessed the ceremony which was to have taken place in the new church, but owing to the indisposition of the bride's mother she could not go out. Bessie was one of the fairest, sweetest girls of our valley, well fitted to be the wife of the best in our land, and the genial, generous fred is one of our popular, prosperous and rising young men. The best wishes of their many friends are extended them for a long and happy life. The groom's parents gave the wedding breakfast.

Mrs. Bessie B. Auvil, 89, of 1728 N. Anne, East Wenatchee, a pioneer of the Entiat Valley, died in a Wenatchee hospital on Thursday morning following an extended illness. Born in Broken Bow, Neb., on July 5, 1884, she moved to the Entiat Valley with her family in 1888. They came to Ellensburg by immigrant train and to Entiat over the Colockum Pass by wagon. In 1903 she was married to Fred Hanan and they made their home in Malaga. He preceded her in death in 1910. Moving back to Entiat she married Llewellyn Auvil in 1916 and they made their home there until moving to Orondo in 1942. They operated a fruit ranch and Auvil's Hatchery at Orondo. Mr. Auvil preceded her in death in 1954. In 1972 she moved to East Wenatchee, making her home with her daughter, Bessie Louise Asher. She was a member of the Entiat Christian Church; the Orondo Grange and Auxiliary; and Naomi Circle of the Orondo Church. Surviving are one son, Robert Hanan, Entiat; two stepsons, Grady and Robert Auvil, both of Orondo; a daughter, Mrs. Bessie Louise Asher, East Wenatchee; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Mabel Abbott, Wenatchee, and Mrs. Myrtle Mulvihill, Laredo, Texas; two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Small, Entiat, and Mrs. Alethea Goodman, Wenatchee; 31 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Services are announced by the Jones & Jones Funeral Home.
