He was a native of Fort Smith, Arkansas and lived in San Bernardino for 16 years where he died on August 7, 1988. He was survived by his three brothers, James G. Auten of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Orville Auten of San Bernardino and Robert Auten of Branson, Missouri, fiance, Susan Auten of San Bernardino, sister-in-law, Carolyn Auten of Tulsa, Oklahoma, eight nephews and nieces and 14 great-nephews and nieces.
Buried next to his mother, Thelma Welch.
