-BELMONT — Charlie Max Auten, 74, of 115 Pine St., died Oct. 22, 2007, at Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gastonia.
-He was a native of Cramerton, son of the late Edward F. and Fannie Bolick Auten.
-FUNERAL: 11 a.m. Thursday, Cramer Memorial United Methodist Church, 154 N. Main St., Cramerton
-INTERMENT: Gaston Memorial Park, Gastonia
-VISITATION: 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the church
-He was a graduate of Cramerton High School, Class of 1951. Retired from the Mayflower Plant of Burlington Industries, Cramerton. Former member of the N. C. Army National Guard, former member of the New Hope Optimist Club. Avid sports fan and accomplished artist and loved to paint scenic paintings for his family. Devoted family man, much loved by his grandchildren and family. Devoted active member of Cramer Memorial United Methodist Church, where he served his church and his God.
-SURVIVORS: Wife of 54 years, Bobbie White Auten; 2 sons: Jeff Auten of Gastonia, Jerry Auten and wife Debbie of Belmont; 1 brother: Houston Auten and wife Mary Ann of Gastonia; 5 grandchildren: Shan Auten, Sgt. Robbie Auten and wife Bess, Paige Stout and husband Brooks, Christy Hogue and husband Mac, Beth Auten; 5 great grandchildren: Taylor, Hannah and Nathan Auten, Hunter and Autumn Hogue
