Elizabeth Jane Martin, daughter of the late Dr. Henry and Mary Martin, of Wallaceburg, California, and wife of J. W. Auten, was born Feb. 16, 1854. She died Nov. 18, 1918. She married in 1874. There were 7 children, 6 of them still living; Mrs. Mabel Laskey of Milan, Mrs. Jessie Rapps of Milan, Mrs. Mertie Rainier of Covington, IN, Clayton Auten of Toledo, Stanley Auten of Milan, Willard Auten of Toledo, and daughter Gertie who died at age 16.
