TORREY, UTAH. Claudia Austin passed away Sept 7, 2004 from complications during surgery, at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah.
She was born June 11, 1950 in Price, Utah, a daughter of Boyd and Montez Jensen Jacobsen. She married Randy Austin, July 4, 1974 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They have been married for 30 years.
Claudia graduated in 1969 from Emery High School, and in 1985 she graduated from Medical Assistant College in Prescott, Arizona. She was also a certified X-Ray Technician and an E.M.T. Claudia loved gardening and spent most of her free time in her green house.
She has 11 grandchildren and always made time for them, especially when they were sick. She was often referred to as "Dr. Claudia". Claudia was a gentle, caring, private person. As a nurse at the Wayne Clinic, she always treated her patients with respect and kindness. She was a very steady person in any crisis.
She looked forward to vacationing with her husband every winter. They often went to Mexico and Costa Rica. This year, they planned a family vacation and took their children and grandchildren and had the time of their lives.
Claudia has many friends and is loved and will be missed profoundly. She is survived by her husband, Randy; her children: Sheri and Michael Clark, James and Christine Austin, all of Torrey; Joyce and Dennis Butcher of Glenwood, Chelsea Austin of San Francisco, CA; 11 grandchildren; parents, Boyd and Montez Jacobsen of Emery; brother and sister: Michael and Shirley Jacobsen, Jackie and Mark Jensen, all of Ferron.
Funeral services held Saturday, September 11, 2004 in the Loa LDS Stake Center in Loa, Utah. Burial in the Torrey Cemetery in Torrey, Utah under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
