Our cherished wife, mother, Nana, sister, aunt and friend, Veda S. Austin, passed away on June 27, 2000, surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 20, 1939, to Leland E. and Lila May Schvaneveldt in Preston, Idaho, the eighth of twelve children. She married her best friend and sweetheart, Wayne Austin in the Logan LDS Temple on May 23, 1958. They moved to Woods Cross in 1966 where they raised their two daughters.
Veda was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many capacities. She worked for Albertsons as a bakery hostess where many of her co-workers and customers became lifelong friends.
She took great pride in providing friendly service to all customers. After 28 years, Veda retired and began a second career as a sales consultant for Impact Sales where she continued to enjoy the people she met and worked with each day.
Veda had many talents and hobbies. She enjoyed playing golf with her husband and friends. She loved gardening and especially caring for her beautiful rose garden. Family gatherings brought her special joy, where she always served delicious home-cooked food. As one friend stated, "Anything from Veda's kitchen was like manna from heaven."
Veda's favorite role in life was that of Nana to her grandchildren, Tiffany and Brad. She took great pride in all of their accomplishments.
