Agness Nancy Nicol Austin, was the fourth of eleven children born to William May Nicol, II and Agness Bronlee, Scottish immigrants who came with their children and settled in Hammond, St. Lawrence, New York. Agness was a twin sister to William May Nicol, III.
She married on January 1, 1822 in Hammond, St. Lawrence County, New York to William Austin, son of William Austin and Elizabeth Stevenson.
She and William were converted and baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on June 1, 1838 in Hammond, St. Lawrence, New York.
Agness carried a lovely soup tureen from New York to Utah which is now in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneer Museum in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah.
