Prominent Vaiden Businessman and Planter Dies
Funeral services for Anderson Austin, 68, prominent civic leader of Vaiden, were held at the Methodist Church in Vaiden Tuesday, June 5th, at 2 p. m. conducted by Rev. N. L. Threet, assisted by Rev. Roy A. Grisham of Winona. Interment was in Vaiden cemetery with Lee Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Austin died early Monday, after a brief illness. He was born near Vaiden, operated an ice plant and gin there, had other business interests in Winona, was a planter and a member of the Vaiden Board of Alde-men. He was a Methodist and Mason.
Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Timmie Moorhead Austin, Vaiden; 4 daughters, Mrs. J. O. Cearley, Vaiden, Mrs. R. W. Tabor and Mrs. Lee Graves of Winona, and Mrs. Jack Morgan, Elliott. He was the son of the late John and Parasade Rucker Austin.
Pallbearers were: Louis McDougal, Claude Hatcher, A. J. Ferguson, Peyton Randall, F. D. Prewitt, John Tabor, Henry Canon and Ben Murphy.
