He was a career long distance truck driver. He was a compassionate person, always ready to do for other people. He was preceded in death by his father.
He is survived by his children, Anna Austin Leasure and Travis Edward Austin; two grandchildren, Bryson and Madison Grey; his mother; sister Mary Austin Byerly; and brothers, Jack Tom, Charles "Buddy" and Bill.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials to the Salvation Army, P. O. Box 5310, Greensboro, NC 27435-0310.
