Naomi was born in Gainesville, Tx. to Starling Jefferson and Winnie Milburn Embry. She married Vernon Austin May 26, 1951 in Gainesville. During her early years, the family lived in Sivells Bend. She enjoyed the activities associated with ranch living in Sivells Bend,including riding horseback to school. She attended Gainesville Junior High school and graduated from Gainesville high school. She graduated from Gainesville Junior college with an Associate of Arts. She attended North Texas Univeristy where she obtained a bachelor of Science.She graduated from TWU in Denton, earning a Master of Science.She was a teacher for 36 years. She taught homemaking at Callisburg and Gainesville schools. She was recognized as an outstanding alumni by the GISD Education Foundation. She was active in the Community and her Church. She was a member of the Spirit Sisters, an organization of Ladies who participated in the "walk to Emmaus". She was a member of the Garden Club, Gleaners Circle and the Garden Study Club. She and her Husband were members of the North Texas Medical Center auxiliary and the retired Teachers Asscoiation.
She is survived by her husband.
