Obituary in The Times and Democrat, Orangeburg, SC, 18 Jan 2009: Orangeburg - Mrs. Addie Lee Austin Sain, 94, of 1000 Live Oaks Drive, Orangeburg, died Saturday, Jan. 17, 2009, at The Methodist Oaks. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, in the Stringer Chapel at The Methodist Oaks in Orangeburg, with the Rev. Kristen R. Richardson-Frick and the Rev. Kermit Shrawder Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery in Orangeburg, directed by Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Orangeburg. The casket will be placed in the Stringer Chapel at The Methodist Oaks one hour before the service and the family will receive friends at that time. Active pallbearers will be her nephews. Mrs. Sain was born Nov. 8, 1914, in Bowman, the daughter of the late Charles Wesley Austin and the late Jessie Cherry Austin. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church. She was the widow of the late Chester Franklin Sain and was preceded in death by four brothers, Johnny W. Austin, Charles Wesley Austin Jr., William Daniel Austin, and Eddie L. Austin and by two sisters, Marie Austin and Louise Ayers Gramling. Survivors include two daughters and son-in-law, Jonnie Ruth and Charles Ronald Vaughn of Carrollton, Ga. and Debbie Sain Brown of Titusville, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Pat (Mary Lou) Kelly of Orangeburg and Gracie Marie LaCombe of Ladson; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Friends may call at Thompson Funeral Home, Inc. of Orangeburg. Memorials may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1085, Orangeburg, SC 29116.
