Obituary ~ Deseret News, Thursday, 22 Jan. 2004, Page B4

"Virginia Austin Archer, age 91, returned home to her Father in Heaven January 20, 2004 with her loving children by her side.

Born February 16, 1912 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Robert Archie Austin and Ethel Agnes Denny. Graduated from West High School and then from the LDS Hospital School of nursing in 1934. Worked at LDS Hospital off and on until l964. She married Don Kimball Archer on June 15, 1935. Later sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple on February 8, 1949. Virginia was always serving others, whether it be teaching classes or baking for those whom she loved. She loved to work in her garden with her husband, and how she could make those roses bloom. She loved to bottle items out of her garden, and none of us will ever forget those burr pickles. She met Don at West High School and they danced at every dance, they did not go steady until she graduated. They lost their first child at birth, but later were blessed with four children and one adopted daughter. Virginia and Don have been blessed to travel all around the world together. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, nothing wavering. She was always the strength of the family, and everyone who came to their home could always feel the love she had for her fellow man.
Don and Virginia were called to serve a mission in England and were later made Mission Presidents of the British South Mission. Virginia loved her missionaries, she fussed over them and always spoke so highly of each of them and their families up until the day she passed away. Don passed away in December of 2002 and she always said she would not be far behind. They were truly soul mates. She will be greatly missed; but we are truly thankful for our faith in the Plan of Salvation."

Virginia is survied by her three daughters, son and adopted Irish daughter. Also 17 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by husband, daughter and parents.

Funeral services Saturday, January 24, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at the Valley View 2nd Ward, 4395 South Albright Drive.
