Following the death of his wife Mary in 1918 Charles at the age of 58 married Hattie L. Boren, a 53 year old housekeeper from Vernon, NY who had been married twice before. The witnesses were his daughter and son-in-law Lula Austin and Grover Mahoney. The license is dated March 20, 1919. By 1920 the couple were no longer living together since according to US census records he was in Vernon as the head of the household with his daughter Flossie and her husband Francis.
From the Rome Daily Sentinel March 27, 1919
Austin-Boren
The marriage of Mrs. H. L. Boren of Camden and Mr. Charles Austin of Vernon took place
in Vernon at the parsonage Thursday March 20.
Mr. and Mrs. Austin have the best wishes of friends here. They are to reside on the Seneca Turnpike between Vernon and Oneida. Mrs. Austin was in town Monday and on Tuesday her household goods were moved to her future home. Her father will reside in Vernon also.

He married again on Jan. 20, 1926 to a woman by the name of Caroline Hiller who was born in Germany. Charles was 63, she was 54. Caroline was divorced in 1920, her former husband was living, this was her 2nd marriage. Interestingly Charles listed this has his 2nd marriage and not his 3rd and that his previous wife died.

In the 1930 Census Charles is listed as living in Oneida, NY with his wife, a woman named Kate. I am not certain if Kate and Caroline are the same person.
From the Utica Observer Dispatch. February 26, 1934
