Joseph Austin, age 84, for many years a resident of Greenville County, died last night, Friday, January 5, 1940, at a local hospital after an illness of several months. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Austin, of Piedmont; one daughter, Mrs. Elsie Bayne, Greenville, and one brother, Fletcher Austin, Asheville, N.C.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Mackey mortuary. Interment will be in Rose Hill cemetery at Piedmont, S.C. Until the hour of the service, the body will be at the mortuary. Funeral announcements will be made later by the Mackey mortuary.
