David "the Happy Bus Driver" Woodrow Austin, 76, of 3590 Buffalo-West Springs Hwy., Buffalo, died at his residence Sept. 24, 2000, after a lengthy illness. A native of Santuck, he was the son of the late John Gary Austin and Lottie Mae Sanders Austin. He was a member of the Westside Baptist Church and the American Legion. He was an Army veteran of World War II and had retired from the Union unit of the South Carolina National Guard. He also retired from Jerry's produce and as a security guard at Wallace Thomas Hospital. Survivors include his wife, Frances Cooper Austin; six daughters, Lyndy Daum of Union, Tina Beauregarde of Kernersville, N.C., Joyce Vaughan of Spartanburg, Fran Elliott of Gaffney, and Glynnette Scott and Sherree Malpass, both of Buffalo; three sons, Billy Albee of Florida, Michael Albee of Jonesville and Larry Glenn of Union; a sister, Hope McMurtrey of Pendleton; 16 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Monday at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Westside Baptist Church conducted by the Rev. Kenneth Snead. Burial will be in Rosemont Cemetery. The body will be placed in the church an hour before the service. The family is at the home at 3590 Buffalo-West Springs Hwy., Buffalo.
