Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Celesse Ellis Austin, 72, were held Tuesday afternoon, March 4, at 3 o'clock at the Bethel Methodist Church with the Rev. B.B. Brantley, assisted by Rev. W.O. Wardlow and Rev. H.C. Miles officiating. Burial was made in Bethel Cemetery with Oliver Funeral home in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Austin passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elwood Brooks, near Kilmichael on March 3rd, following a lingering illness. She was born June 1. 1874, and in 1893, she married the late W.M. Austin. She was a member of the Bethel Methodist church.

She is survived by four daughters, Mrs. W.S. Oswalt and Mrs. W.G. Curtis, Ackerman, Mrs. Dorris Jefcoat and Mrs. Elwood Brooks, Kilmichael; three sons, B.A. Austin, French Camp; W.E. Austin, Kingsport, Tenn., and W.W. Austin, Poplar Creek; three sisters, Mrs. Effie Bagwell, Kilmichael, Mrs. Lonnie Ricks, Winona, and Mrs. John Hendon, Indianola; three brothers, Edd Ellis, Black Oak, Ark, Else Ellis and Noah Ellis, Mathiston; 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Active pallbearers were Lawrence King, Earl Black, E.L. Tindall, Englis Brister, Norvell Henley, and Hoyt Ervin.
