Services for Allan D. Austermuhl , a former Alaska Railroad track laborer, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Evergreen Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Tim Gebhardt of the Seventhday Adventist Chuch officiating. Visitation will be from 23 p.m. preceding the service. Mr. Austermuhl , 28, died April 10 at his Anchorage home.
Born Jan. 20, 1959, in Anchorage, he had most recently been employed parttime for Alaska Cab. In 1977, he graduated from Dimond High School where he was active in swimming, wrestling, weight training and football, of which he was voted Mr. Congeniality by the team. He was chairman and treasurer of T.I.E. group of Charter North Hospital. He was a strong, loving, humble man who cared for the people he met, his mother said.
He leaves his mother, Geraldine, of Anchorage; his paternal grandparents, Elaine and G. Harvey, of Anchorage; his maternal grandmother, Ebba Hamm of Anchorage; his brothers, Jon and Brian, both of Kirkland, Wash., and Ed and Dan, both of Anchorage; and his sister, Linda, of Anchorage. Memorials may be directed to the Brother Francis Shelter, 1021 East 3rd Ave., Anchorage, 99501. Burial will be in Angelus Memorial Park.
