Born in Sennfeld, Mosbach, Germany he came to America with his parents when he was 7 yrs old in 1871. They moved to the state of Iowa in Audubon Co & then finally to Adair.
Before his marriage to Caroline Peters, his family was living in Exira, IA, neighbors to the Peters family.
After his marriage to Caroline [Lena] at one point in 1911 William moved his family to Huron, SD for homestead land. They stayed there only 2 years, but lost crops and money due to "hot winds".
Moving back to Adair, IA he rented farms for the remainder of the time [one being 'the Turner place'] until in later years when he moved his family to Council Bluffs, IA, and then to CA in 1929.
William read his Bible through many times during his life, and was a church elder. He and Lena's brothers helped build the First Presbyterian Church of Adair .
He died of cancer, as did 4 of his children.
