James S. Aunkst, 72, of 238 Railroad St., Muncy, died at his home on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006.
His wife of 49 years, Mary B. Aunkst, died on Oct. 4, 2005.
Jim was born in Montgomery on Oct. 13, 1933, a son of the late Lloyd and Bessie (Wertz) Aunkst.
Jim had been employed at the former Montgomery Mills, Grumman's and Carey McFalls in Montgomery and retired from the former G.B.'s Department Store at the Lycoming Mall.
He was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army.
He enjoyed polkas, cooking shows and wrapping change.
He is survived by five children, Thomas Aunkst of Lock Haven, Dan (Michelle) Aunkst of Pennsdale, Dennis (Sarah) Aunkst and Larry (Sherry) Aunkst, all of Muncy and Deborah (Dean) Walize of Milton. He is also survived by four brothers, Leonard Aunkst of Muncy Hills, Thomas, Wayne and Dean Aunkst, all of Montgomery; two sisters, Shirley Walker of Muncy Hills and Carol Pentz of Montgomery; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He is predeceased by a brother, Bill Aunkst and two sisters, Helen Robbins and Maxine Hitesman.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday 10 a.m. at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with the Rev. Jerry L. Caswell of the Friendship Baptist Church, Watsontown, officiating. Interment will be in Webster Cemetery, Huntersville, where Military Graveside Burial Rites will be accorded by combined military organizations. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9 to 10 a.m.
