Charles A. Auld, age 87, of Beaver, formerly of Rochester, PA, passed away on February 17, 2014. He was born in Rochester on September 27, 1926, a son of the late Audrey C. and Myrtle (Devore) Auld.
Mr. Auld served his country during World War II with the Army Air Corps. He was also an Eagle Scout with Troop 425. During his Scouting, he was tapped in as a member of the Order of Arrow and later received the Silver Beaver Award. He also was a Boy Scout Commissioner for Beaver County for many years and was one of the founding members of the Fort Macintosh Dancers. He also was one of the original dispatchers for Rochester Fire and Police. He also retired after many years from St. Joe Lead.
In 1949, he married Sarah 'Alice' (Clear) Auld. Together they had six children: Charlene (Gary) Espey, Dawna Meers, Denise (Martin) Wilson, Sally (Dave) Lodovico, Amy Auld and the late Charles Auld Jr.
He is also survived by 15 grandchildren: Amber and April Espey, Charlie (Christa) Auld, Johnny Auld, Tommy (Taylor) Auld, David, Jimmy and the late Katrina Meers, Tricia, Kristina, Mark Wilson, Howard (Tara Marquette) Lodovico, Danielle Lodovico, Hunter Nation and Katie Sano; 13 great-grandchildren: Jakob, Paige, Nick, Zack, Darren, Kyleigh, Alexandria, Elijah, Emily, Erica, Aunya, Jasper and Cambria; siblings, Thomas M. (Jane) Auld and Dawna Lyons, and also numerous nieces, nephews, his extended family and friends.
Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the HUNTSMAN FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES OF ROCHESTER, www.huntsmanfuneralhomes.com, 502 Adams St., where a funeral service will be held Friday at 10 a.m., with Pastors Mel McRoberts and Bob Singleton officiating.
Interment will follow in Sylvania Hills Memorial Park, where military services will be offered by the Beaver County Special Unit.
