Funeral services were held at Martin and Castille chapel at a 2 p.m. Mass Tuesday for Joseph Aucoin, 73, who died after a brief illness at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Monday.

Interment was in Calvary Cemetery.

Survivors include five sons, Clarence "Black" Aucoin of Milton, Andrew Aucoin of Carencro, Raymond Charles, Ernest and Harris Aucoin, all of Lafayette; one daughter, Mrs. Ricky "Beatrice" Rodriguez of McAllen, Texas; 35 grandchildren; 14 great - grandchildren; two brothers, Isaac Aucoin of Fannett, Texas, and Otis Aucoin of New Orleans; two sisters, Doris Smith of Crowley and Zumma Demett of Indian Bayou; one half sister, Marie Mary Stewart of Crowley.

A native of Bosco and a resident of Lafayette all of his life, Mr. Aucoin was the son of the late Joseph Aucoin, Sr. and Emetille Dupuis He was retired from a Louisiana construction company.
