Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 28, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Julia Aucoin, age 81, the former Julia Hamlett, who passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at her residence in Breaux Bridge.
Interment will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens in Lafayette. Deacon George Jourdan of The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette will officiate at the services.
Mrs. Aucoin was a native of Red Fish, LA, now known as Simmesport and a resident of Breaux Bridge. She was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church in Lafayette.
Survivors include her husband of sixty three years, Andrew "T-Black" Aucoin of Breaux Bridge; one son, Ralph Aucoin of Breaux Bridge; six daughters, Mary Kay Thibodeaux and her husband, Johnny, Jr., of Broussard, Donna Fremin and her husband, Fidel, of Rosedale, Diane DeRousselle and her husband, Michael, of The Woodlands, TX, Karen Aucoin Provost, Jill Aucoin and Ellen Aucoin all of Breaux Bridge; thirteen grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two brothers, Bobby Hamlett of Kaplan, Steven Hamlett and his wife, Janet, of Sunset; and three sisters, Dorothy Roberts of Lafayette, Zora Marshall and her husband, Paul, of Gonzales and Violet Hurst and her husband, Don, of Baton Rouge
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alto Hamlett, Sr. and the former, Delta Rabalais; one great grandchild, Triston James Lacassin; one brother, Alto "Buddy" Hamlett, Jr.; and one sister, Mary Simmons.
Pallbearers will be Fidel Fremin, Michael DeRousselle, Ralph Aucoin, Beth Provost, Cory Fremin and Jesse Provost.
Melancon Funeral Home, Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel, 4117 N. University Avenue Carencro,Louisiana was in charge of services.
