Mrs. Hazel Miles Atwood

Hazel Bernice Miles Atwood, age 87, died Sept. 26, 2001 in a Bountiful hospital. She was born July 12, 1914 in Mountain Home, Utah to Henry Edgar and Olive Millie Thacker Miles.

She married LaVon R. Atwood August 27, 1930 in Duchesne and their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died October 9, 1985. Bernece was active in all the auxiliaries of the LDS Church, she served on the Altamont Town Council, and on the committees to write the Altamont and Bluebell histories. She enjoyed quilting, gardening and the mountains.

She is survived by children, Marva (Myrlin) Fenn, Bountiful; Eloyce (Max) Allred, Grand Junction, CO; Carma (Gene) Berrett, Murray; Gloria (Leon) Mansfield, Vernal; Paul (Elaine) Atwood, Bluebell; and David (Krista) Atwood, Price; a son-in-law, Robert Clark, Salt Lake; 31 grandchildren, 71 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Doug (JoAnn) Miles, Altamont; and sisters, Violet Lott, Altamont; Veva (Edwin) Clegg, San Diego; Mona Nebeker, Ogden, and sister-in-law, Alice Miles, Mountain Home.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Marolyn Clark, grandson, Kenneth LaVon Atwood, brothers, Fay E. Miles, Robert J. Miles and sisters, Inez Shiner and Helen Mitchell.

Funeral services Monday, Oct. 1, at 11 a.m., at the Altamont LDS Church. Friends may call at the Hullinger Mortuary, 457 E. 300 N., Roosevelt, Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and Monday at the church from 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, Altamont Cemetery.
