Bertha Atwell, 87, of the Sprowles Ridge Community in Taylor County, daughter of the late Henry DeWitt and Mattie Miller Dewitt, died at 11:55 p.m., Monday, Sept. 19, 1983 at the Medco Center of Campbellsville. She was a member of the Mt. Washington Baptist Church. She united in marriage to Willie Atwell on Dec. 26, 1917. He preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 1924. She is survived by two daughters and one son: Anna Belle Skaggs of Campbellsville; Gladys Mae Yates and Henry Atwell, both of Louisville; one step-son: Avery Atwell of Frankfort; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great-grandchildren; several other relatives and many friends. Funeral service was at 1 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 22 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsville by the Rev. Otis C. Skaggs and the Rev. Howard Beauman. Burial was in Mt. Washington Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Bill Schick, Bobby Skaggs, Glen Skaggs, Craig Skaggs, Keith Yates and Jimmie Skaggs
