WASHINGTON - Dorothy M. Attig, 86, of Washington died Sunday morning, Dec. 30, 2012, at her home.
She was born Sept. 8, 1926, in rural Washington, Tazewell County, Ill., the daughter of John and Nancy (Burroughs) Glabe and married Vernon Attig on Nov. 28, 1946, who survives.
Also surviving are one son, David (Sheila) Attig of Washington; daughters, Karen (Robert James) Roy of Ottawa, Ill., and Diane (Derek) Price of Peoria, Ill.; one sister, Ruth Cook of Round Rock, Texas; one brother, the Rev. Wayne (Ann) Glabe of Washington; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Doris Krus; and grandson, Jon Bailin.
She graduated from Washington Community High School in 1944 and worked for Washington Township, retiring June 2011.
Dorothy was a charter member of Grace Bible Church in Washington, where funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at 11 a.m., with Pastor Adam Kipp officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the church and burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Missions Fund at Grace Bible Church.
We are humbled by her strength and determination. With heavy hearts, we have had to say good-bye, but she has taught us to be joyful and confident of our reunion in the Lord's perfect time.
