Ada Irene Atkinson, 85, of Bartlett died on Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Bartlett. Burial will be in the Bartlett Cemetery. Mrs. Atkinson was cremated, so there will be no visitation.
Huffman's Brooks Chapel in Elgin is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Atkinson was born on Aug. 6, 1914, in Bartlett to Edwin H. and Bernice (Huff) Pletcher. Her family moved to a farm nine miles southwest of Bartlett in 1919. She attended rural schools, took normal training at Wheeler County High
School and graduated in 1931. She attended Kearney State College and taught for five years in Wheeler County and for one year in Garfield County.
She went to Oregon in 1937, returned to Nebraska and went to Yakima, Wash., in 1938.
She married Cecil Atkinson in Wickenburg, Ariz. The couple lived in Yakima, Wash., from 1941 to 1951 before returning to Bartlett in 1951. Mr. Atkinson died on Nov. 11, 1972.
Survivors include four daughters, Janice (Mrs. Howard) Houle, Sandi (Mrs. Mark) Tieri, Rita Jones and Cheryl (Mrs. Larry) Kremer; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one sister, Leatha Taylor of Bartlett; and two brothers,
H.J. Pletcher of Yakima, Wash., and Gene Pletcher of Grand Island.
Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, Terry; and one grandson.
