Mrs. J E Atkinson Dies After Illness; Burial at Friendship

Mrs. J E Atkinson, wife of the Chancery Clerk of Chickasaw County, died yesterday morning at her home in Van Vleet following an illness of long duration. She was sixty-three years old.

Mrs. Atkinson was before her marriage Miss Bertha Martin. She had been a member of the Baptist Church for years. While Mrs. Atkinson was an invalid for years she bore it cheerfully and unselfishly.

The funeral will be held from the residence this morning at 10:30, (part mistyped here) wood Baptist Church of Memphis, will officiated with burial in the Friendship Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Reed Pruitt, Lawrence Smith, Hugh Collins, Raphael Arnette, Clint Paden, C Doss, Turner Ray and Marvin Boyd.

Besides her husband, Mrs. Atkinson leaves three daughters, Miss Scottie Sue and Miss Dorothy Atkinson of Memphis, and Mrs. Alline Berry of Tupelo, and one son, Kenneth Atkinson, of Van Vleet. Three sisters and two brothers also survive.
