Andrew Timothy Atkins, 20, died June 10, 2003, at Excelsior Springs Medical Center. He was born Oct. 8, 1982, to Daryl J. and Linda C. (Thompson) Atkins.
He attended Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Richmond, worked in Awanas, ran the sound system and anything else he was asked to do.
He liked antique tractors and was a skilled mechanic.
He attended Grand River Technical School of Chillicothe, MO, receiving certificates in farm and industrial equipment repair in 2002 and AG Diesel Service Technology in 2003 with straight A's and perfect attendance for both years.
He had been a farming partner with his Grandpa Allen Atkins nearly all of his life.
His survivors include his parents, Daryl J. and Linda C. Atkins of Lawson; two brothers, Daniel J. Atkins of Warrensburg, MO; and Jonathan D. Atkins of Lawson; one sister, Melody A. Atkins of Platte Woods, MO; his grandparents, Ralph and Frances Thompson of Independence, and Allen and Betty J. Atkins of Lawson; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
Friends may call tonight at the Polley Funeral Home, Lawson. Services will be Friday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Richmond. Burial will be in Old Union Cemetery, Lawson.
