He was born in the Township of Summit, Marian County, KS. After attending high school in Peabody, KS, Bill served four years in the US Navy during Korean War. Bill moved his family to Kansas City, KS in 1956 and retired from the US Postal Service as a letter carrier after 26 years in 1986.
Bill was a member of White Church Christian Church and VFW Post 5851 of Kansas City, Kansas.
His hobbies included woodworking, picture matting/framing, and stained glass. He volunteered at the Children's Museum of Kansas City, KS, for many years where his talents proved invaluable.
Bill was a brick layer and construction worker as a young man in Peabody and Wichita, KS. He met his wife Barbara in 1954 while she was in nursing training, married in 1955, started their family with twin boys Dave and Dan in 1956, and moved to a small house in downtown Kansas City. He started employment with the Postal Service after the birth of their third child Kathy in 1960. After the birth of their fourth child Michael in 1962, they moved into a brand new home in Kansas City where his family was raised and he and Barbara have lived for 43 years. Bill enjoyed camping and going to Chiefs games with his young family and was an impressive square dancer. He spent countless hours in his workshop and created precious wood and glass pieces for his children, grandchildren, family, and friends. He loved black licorice and chocolate cherries which were Father's Day favorites. Other talents included holding two ice cream cones while driving and not missing a drip. His relationship with God over the past 10 yrs was his guiding light and brought peace to his long fruitful life.
