Lewis "Dale" Atkins, age 55, of Moore Rd., Asheboro died Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.

Dale was born April 8, 1960 at Troy, NC the son of John Lewis and Edith McIntyre Atkins of Troy.

Dale was a 1978 graduate of West Montgomery High School. He attended Why Not Wesleyan Church and Love Joy United Methodist Church. He loved farming.

He began his career as an air line mechanic with Mid South Air of Pinehurst; he then worked for Piedmont which later became US Airways where he retired with 20 years of service.

In addition to his parents, Dale is survived by his wife: Katherine Presnell Atkins of the home; a stepdaughter, Crystal Davis and husband Kenneth of Asheboro; one sister: Leigh Shank of Troy; two brothers: John Charles Atkins and wife Sherry of Troy, Jeffrey Atkins and wife Denita of Troy; grandchildren: Jordan, Holly, Alex and Cameron; neices and nephews: Lauren Atkins, Bradley Atkins, Jennifer Atkins, Kelsey Atkins and Erica Shank.

The funeral will be Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 11:00 am at Love Joy United Methodist Church, 1137 Substation Rd., Troy with Rev. Ron Scott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the services at the church.
