He says he enlisted in June 1861 in Richmond, Va and served with Company G of the 12th GA Vols, Doles Brigade. He was discharged at Appamattox Court House VA in April 1865. He had to apply for a pension as his wife had died and he had a bent and stiff left arm from the war. Proof of his death on 26 Jan 1918 in Baldwin County, GA is included in the paperwork.
