Charles W. Athearn, 82, of Ash Street, Willimantic, died Wednesday (May 26, 1993) in Hartford. He was born Nov. 28, 1910, in Bridgeport, son of the late Harry and Anna Mae (Hooghkirk) Athearn. He had lived for most of his life in the Newington and Bridgeport areas, where he owned and operated Athearn's Garage. In 1967 he moved to Willington and opened the Athearn's Automotive Center, from which he retired in 1975. He had lived in Willimantic for the past three years. He was a former member of Uriel Lodge AF&AM, Merrow, and the Willington Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife, Alma F. Athearn; three daughters, Alma Farnsworth of Willington, Audrey Fisher of Winthrop, Maine, and Barbara Bush of New Jersey; eight grandchildren; a greatgrandchild; several nieces and nephews. A son, Robert Athearn, died previously. A memorial service will be Sunday, June 20, 1993, 1 p.m., at the Willington Federated Church, Willington. Burial will be private in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Rocky Hill.
