Born in Rhodes, Greece, she lived in Hartford for over 75 years. She was a member of St. George Greek Othorodox Cathedral, Pan-Rodian Society and the Ladies Philoptochos Society. She and her husband helped many Greek people from the Island of Rhodes, Greece migrate and settle in the Hartford area.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Zoe (Poulos) Athanson; and her beloved grandson, Arthur George Athanson, both of Hartford; and several nieces and nephews living in Greece.
At the family's request, funeral services were held privately Thursday, at St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Hartford. Interment was in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Gifts in her memory may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral. Providing care to the Athanson Family is the Giuliano-Sagarino Funeral Home at BROOKLAWN, 511 Brook Street, Rocky Hill.
